What Orange Beach does to a window
Orange Beach is a long, thin town with the Gulf on one side and a string of bays and bayous on the other, so there is hardly a house in town that is not within a few hundred yards of salt water. The sea breeze comes straight in off Perdido Pass and lays a fine salt mist across Perdido Beach Boulevard, down Canal Road and across Terry Cove and Cotton Bayou. It dries on the glass as a milky haze within a couple of weeks. On the south-facing windows of the beach houses at Romar Beach and the lower floors of the condo towers along the boulevard it comes back so fast that many owners stop noticing how gray the view has gotten until the first clean.
The back side of town has its own problems. Ono Island, Bear Point and the canal lots off Terry Cove sit on Old River, Bayou St. John and Perdido Bay, where the air never really dries out, and the north-facing glass and lanai screens grow a green film in the shoulder seasons. Boat traffic in and out of the marinas and the pass adds a layer of exhaust and spray to the waterfront windows. Up along Wolf Bay and the Wharf area, the live oaks and pines drop pollen heavy enough in March and April to turn porches yellow, and sprinklers on well water leave a line of hard mineral spots along the lower panes of the newer subdivisions off Canal Road.
A quarterly plan suits most Orange Beach homes, with the inside glass done once a year. Gulf-front homes along Perdido Beach Boulevard and the waterfront lots on Ono Island and Terry Cove usually go to every month or two, and rental owners have us time the first clean of the year for just before spring break. How often should windows be cleaned in Orange Beach?
Quarterly keeps the salt haze and pollen under control for most Orange Beach homes a few streets back from the water. Gulf-front homes on Perdido Beach Boulevard and waterfront lots on Ono Island, Terry Cove and Cotton Bayou do better every month or two, because the salt comes back within weeks. Do you work on Ono Island?
Yes. Ono Island is one of our regular routes. Add us to your gate list or tell us the procedure when you book, and we will handle the rest. We text the morning of each visit so you know when we are coming through the gate.
Do you clean condo balcony glass on Perdido Beach Boulevard?
Yes, for individual owners. We clean the balcony sliders, railing glass and interior windows of your unit. Exterior glass that can only be reached from outside the building is handled by the association’s contractor, and we will tell you which is which on the first visit.
